What is the price of silence in your company?
What is the cost of silence in your organization?
I mean this very specifically:
How often do ideas remain unspoken?
How often does criticism come only after the meeting – at the coffee machine?
How often is silence kept about mistakes until it is too late?
I experience this in many organizations. And to be honest:
It costs time, money, and potential every time.
Valuable opportunities – for better decisions, for innovation, for real collaboration – remain unused.
What is missing?
A space where people feel safe to speak openly.
Even when it is uncomfortable. Even when they could offend.
Amy Edmondson has researched this extensively and calls this space “Psychological Safety”.
Her book The Fearless Organization gets to the point.
By the way, it is now also available as a video book (37 minutes) – ideal if you have little time.
What impressed me particularly about the video book:
A former NASA astronaut shares how dangerous it becomes when psychological safety is lacking, and how fostering a fear-free culture leads to better decisions, stronger teams, and successful innovation.
If you want your team to make bolder decisions,
to have more openness, and to create real collaboration:
Start here.
Have you experienced how silence has slowed down a project?
